The Story of Fold of Liberty Farms
A mission rooted in liberty, stewardship, and the belief that the past has something vital to teach the future.
Liberty, stewardship,
and sustainability.
At Fold of Liberty Farms, our mission is to cultivate a thriving, sustainable, and profitable farm that brings together a community of like-minded individuals. We champion regenerative farming practices, honor the sacrifices of the past, and commit to preserving the land for future generations.
Our vision is to create a place where liberty, stewardship, and sustainability converge — a model for sustainable living that nourishes both the body and the mind.
Behind every great man is an even greater woman.
This is certainly true for Vernon and Rhonda Stout, the founders of Fold of Liberty Farms. Their story may seem extraordinary to some, but to their family, it is simply the life they have always known.
Both Vernon and Rhonda were born in Provo, Utah, in the mid-1970s. They attended the same elementary and junior high schools, sharing classrooms and childhood memories. However, at age 15, Vernon’s life took a new path when his family moved to Ankara, Turkey, due to his father’s service in the United States Air Force.
While living abroad, Vernon witnessed firsthand the remnants of war, the devastation of terrorism, and the oppression of unjust governments. When he returned home for his senior year at Orem High School, he saw his classmates’ lack of appreciation for the freedoms they enjoyed — an observation that sparked in him a deep desire to make a difference.
Despite periods of dating and breaking up, Vernon and Rhonda always knew they were meant for each other. On October 21, 1993, they sealed their bond in marriage, embarking on a life filled with hard work, passion, and purpose.
A home filled with love, adventure, and a deep respect for nature.
Rhonda was raised in a home filled with love, adventure, and a deep respect for nature. Her family always had animals and often took long road trips across Utah, all crammed into a single-cab Chevy pickup — four kids, two dogs, and endless memories. This love for nature and family became a guiding principle in her life.
As they built their family, Vernon and Rhonda faced the challenges that many young couples do — long hours, multiple jobs, late nights, and raising children — but they remained dedicated to their shared values. They planted a massive garden in their yard, teaching their children the principles of hard work, self-sufficiency, and the importance of stewarding the land.
An unexpected encounter changed everything.
Among Vernon’s many interests was his passion for restoring classic cars and trucks. Early in their marriage, he worked on pickup trucks and a Mustang, but his dream was to own and restore a vintage Dodge Power Wagon. While he was away on business, Rhonda surprised him by finding the perfect truck, which they purchased upon his return.
After restoring the military version of the Dodge Power Wagon, Vernon took it for a drive — and an unexpected encounter changed everything. An elderly man ran into the street, waving him down. This veteran, who had driven the same type of truck during the Korean War, was overwhelmed with emotion. Vernon gave him a ride, listening as he shared memories of his service. Later, Vernon had the opportunity to pass these stories on to children, realizing he had a powerful tool to connect history with the present generation.
With Rhonda’s unwavering support, Vernon continued to acquire military vehicles and historical artifacts, eventually creating a mobile museum that traveled to schools and public events. Their entire family became involved in educating others about God’s hand in preserving the United States as a land of liberty.
A lifelong dream,
finally fulfilled.
While building and running a company, Vernon remained committed to history and education. In 2021, after selling his business, Vernon and Rhonda were finally able to fulfill a lifelong dream — purchasing the land that would become Fold of Liberty Farms. As they considered what to do with their land, they began studying farming practices, determined to create something meaningful.
Vernon quickly realized that farming methods were varied and often controversial. After extensive research and reflection, they chose to embrace regenerative agriculture, a method focused on healing the soil, restoring ecosystems, and creating a diverse, sustainable farm. This approach would allow them to cultivate valuable crops while enhancing the health of the land.
Meanwhile, Rhonda developed an interest in Scottish Highland cattle — affectionately known as “fluffy cows.” Their love for these animals led them to start raising their own herd, further enriching their farm’s diversity.
