Field Trips: A Journey Through Time and Technology
Bring history and science to life at Victory Park USA. Our field trips provide an immersive, hands-on environment where students don’t just read about the past—they stand in it.
Three tracks. Every curriculum.
We offer three primary tracks tailored to different age groups and curriculum standards.
The “Patriot’s Path”
The “Mechanical Mind”
The “Living Liberty” Farm Tour
Every field trip includes “Living History” moments.
To keep students engaged, every visit includes hands-on experiences that bring the past to life.
The Artifact Touch-Table
Students can handle authentic gear, from WWII helmets to Morse code equipment.
Vehicle Boarding
Opportunities for students to climb inside select, stationary military vehicles for a true soldier’s-eye view.
The Algae Lab
A look at our pilot photobioreactor system to discuss sustainable energy and future-tech farming.
Everything you need to prepare.
Group Size
We can accommodate groups from 15 to 100 students.
Duration
Standard tours last approximately 2 to 3 hours, with an optional 30-minute lunch break in our designated picnic area.
Pricing
We offer discounted per-student rates for public, private, and homeschool groups.
Facilities
Our site includes accessible restrooms, handwashing stations, and bus parking.
To ensure the learning continues back in the classroom, we provide:
Pre-Visit Packets
Vocabulary lists and historical context to prepare students.
Post-Visit Reflection
Discussion prompts and “Then vs. Now” technology comparisons.
Go deeper with hands-on modules.
Educators can request either add-on when booking. Both run concurrently with your field trip and are available to all group sizes.
The “Junior Recruit” Boot Camp Experience
Educators looking for a high-energy, kinesthetic learning experience can request to add our Junior Recruit Boot Camp to any field trip package. This 45-minute immersive activity is designed to teach discipline, teamwork, and historical context through the eyes of a new recruit.
Drill & Ceremony (Marching)
Students learn the basics of “Eyes Right,” “About Face,” and how to march in formation. This module focuses on the importance of listening, coordination, and working as a unified unit.
The “Grenade” Range
Using weighted dummy grenades, students learn the proper stance and throwing technique used by soldiers in WWII. We set up a target course to practice accuracy and “toss-and-cover” safety.
Firearm Safety & History
Led by certified instructors, this session covers the vital rules of gun safety. Students see the evolution of military hardware and learn why safety protocols are the most important part of any mechanical operation. (Note: This is an educational demonstration; no live ammunition is ever present at the Boot Camp stations.)
The Secret Code Challenge
Before modern encrypted radios, communication was a manual skill. Students learn basic Morse Code and “Signal Flag” communication to send messages across the field.
Obstacle Awareness
A modified version of a period-correct training course that emphasizes physical fitness and the ability to navigate challenges under pressure.
The Chain of Command
Understanding how clear communication and respect for leadership are vital in high-stakes environments.
Civic Duty
Connecting physical effort with the concept of service to one’s country.
Historical Empathy
Giving students a small glimpse into the physical and mental preparation required of those who have defended our nation.
The “Pioneer & Engineering” Challenge
For educators who want to emphasize STEM, physics, and teamwork, we offer a specialized “Pioneer” module. This section focuses on the ingenuity of the Army Corps of Engineers and the physical science of the battlefield. Students move away from the modern “plug-and-play” world and back to a time when survival and success depended on understanding knots, levers, and navigation.
Pioneering (Rope & Poles)
Using traditional lashing techniques and sturdy timber, students work together to build functional structures. This is a hands-on lesson in structural integrity, tension, and friction. Activities: Building basic towers, tripods, or frames.
The Rope Bridge
Experience the physics of the “Commando Crawl” or a traditional bridge crossing. Students learn about mechanical advantage and the importance of secure anchors while testing their balance and bravery on our low-profile rope courses.
The Compass & Land Nav Course
In a world of GPS, what happens when the batteries die? We teach students the science of magnetism and how to use a lensatic compass and a topographic map to find their way across our three-acre field.
The Trebuchet & Siege Engines
History meets high-velocity physics. Students see our trebuchet in action to learn about counterweights and torques, trajectory and range, and potential vs. kinetic energy — a visceral demonstration of energy transfer.
